Two reviews for 'Bombay Hangovers' by Akila G. & Biswadip Shome

Akila G, poet and haibuneer, posted her review on Amazon India.

She said - "Universal Bombay. A lucid narrative that makes ordinary lives and people extraordinary in this book. Not that they are super men or women or children, for that matter, but because they carry a bit of us in them. Love, dreams, desperation, stress, anxiety, coping, silence, sounds that punctuate a life that has to be lived and therefore, lived. Life runs in the same vein across the strata of age and livelihood, whether as a student, roadside cafe owner, entrepreneur, adman or a top executive; the broad sketch of every man and woman is the same. What makes them interesting is the author's portrayal of these character sketches and their journeys like frames of a movie playing simultaneously. They are there somewhere is what you want to believe and so when you put down a story, you can see them in your head. Simple and yet vivid imagery for each of them and their stories. Bombay truly hangs over us in our homes, cities, our stories and within us."

While Biswadip Shome said, "I often read fiction in order to peek into other people's lives...empathize with people who think differently than me… expand my imagination… the myriads of possibilities. Rochelle Potkar has nailed it. The stories in this book gave me a new way of thinking about people. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. After each story, I was left thinking about the people for a few days. It's not a book that I could read at one go. Rather I savored the stories one at a time."

Thank you Akila and Biswadip for carving out time to write this review.
